My Precious…

Our new (to us, I bought it used) camera arrived in the post today – a Sony A7R IV.

Mads has been threatening to get into underwater photography, and last year a used Nauticam A7RIV housing popped up on Gumtree (the Australian equivalent of Ebay) at a good price. We snapped it up, but have subsequently, and extremely disrespectfully, been using it as a doorstop.

I’m heading back to Antarctica next month, and successfully convinced myself that a third camera body was required to go with our two A7R IIIs. Used A7R IVs are going for AU~$3,000 these days, so – while they’ll undoubtedly continue to drop in price over time – I finally went ahead and bought one.

I’ll try to get it out into the wilds over the next few days. Looking forward to getting acquainted.
